KAOLIN CLAY - Mineral Thickener - Powder - 2.5 lbs (40 ounces) net weight - shipped in safety sealed PP container with resealable lid and re-attachable handle

Formed from weathered granite that once sat below the earth's surface, Kaolin Clay is a hydrated aluminium silicate crystalline mineral (kaolinite).

After mining, the clay is further cleaned and purified through a series of processing technologies each of which ensures the quality and consistency.

History of this Kaolin Clay:
In the U.S., many eons ago, the Atlantic coastline stretched from Columbus to Augusta whilst southern Georgia under the sea. Weathered crystalline rocks from the Piedmont Plateau (now the foothills of the Smoky Mountains) began to break down and rushing streams carried the tiny feldspar and kaolinite crystals seaward forming large sedimentary deposits in what is now referred as Georgia’s fall line. These large sedimentary deposits are now world renowned for their brightness, purity, and fine particle structure.

While used extensively in pharmaceutical products, personal care products, and cosmetics; kaolinite has many other uses.   Major uses of kaolinite include the manufacture of china and porcelain in which kaolinite is an essential ingredient.   Widely used in the making of paper, rubber, paint, and many other products.   It is used as extenders and additives in adhesives, coatings, inks, plastics, and rubber. Mineral purity permits this clay to be delineated as the purest clay type known to man.
