    Fragrance Oils
Our Fragrance Oils are specifically formulated to be suitable in soaps, candles, and skin care products.

The scents are extremely rich, complex, and long lasting.

All our fragrance oils are phthalate-free and paraben-free. The base oil used is a mix of olive, sesame and jojoba oils with a little vitamin E added to preserve the oil. They are produced with the latest technical equipment including mass spectroscopy, gas chromatography, simulated critical fluid extraction, and rotary vapor extraction methods.

Since Essential Depot's fragrance oils are oil based, you should add them after saponification. If you add them prior to saponification, then your lye will react with the oil base leaving the notes (the synthetic fragrance portion stranded) and you may experience ricing and seizing issues. See the notes below on this also.

Our 4 oz. bottles contain 4 oz. by weight of fragrance oil.

Note: We can ship all our Essential and Fragrance Oils to Canada by UPS Standard.

Orders with a product value of less than $20 US going to a residential address in Canada will incur no customs or brokerage fees. All other Canadian orders will incur these fees. You will receive a separate bill from UPS for any customs or brokerage fees; please pay this bill in a timely manner.

If you're wondering how much fragrance oil to use for a batch of soap, here are our recommendations *:

    Soaps
For cold process soap, we recommend  0.6 oz of fragrance oil for every  1 lb. of fats/oils in your recipe.
For hot process soap, we recommend  0.4 oz of fragrance oil for every  1 lb. of fats/oils in your recipe.
For melt and pour soaps, we recommend  0.2 oz of fragrance for every  1 lb. of melt and pour soap base.

    Lotions, Creams & Balms
For lotions, creams, balms, shampoos, bath gels, etc, we recommend 2 % by weight.

    * These are guide amounts. You may choose to add more or less depending on your taste.

    Please Note:

We always recommend you make a small test batch first when trying a new fragrance oil.  If you are having trouble with a fragrance oil, we recommend you try the following:

Make sure you are using enough water. For the fats/oils in your recipe, ensure you are using at least 30% water by weight.

Keep your temperatures at or below 100F when mixing your caustic solution with the fats/oils.

Add the fragrance at light trace and always stir by hand once the fragrance is added. Refrain from using electric whisks or blenders. Stir only enough to incorporate the fragrance and then pour into the mold.

If you are really having difficulty, add the fragrance oil to a few ounces of fats/oils reserved from your recipe. Add this at light trace, stir well enough to incorporate, and quickly pour into the mold.

As a last resort, add the fragrance to your fats/oils before adding the caustic soda solution and proceed as normal. You will still have to work quickly, but you should have enough time to get your soap into the mold.
